Capturing handwriting data

A2iA has announced significant enhancements to its CheckReader toolkit, a set of image analysis and intelligent recognition engines. CheckReader toolkit enables software applications to capture handwritten and machine-printed information from all areas of checks and related payment documents.

The expanded capabilities of A2iA CheckReader automate the classification, reconciliation and recording of customers’ everyday expenditures from all types of paper-based payments. CheckReader also provides the ability for additional analysis and extraction of information from check images, helps fight check fraud and provides additional customer relationship management (CRM) data.

A2iA says CheckReader’s improved check image quality and usability analysis continue to address the needs of users in addition to those of financial institutions. By using invalidity detectors for the back of U.S. checks, plus tools such as a comparison of payer name image with the referenced check stock, A2iA CheckReader provides the ability to process checks at the point of presentment, as well as anywhere that a desktop or consumer scanner is available with fewer rejects, fewer unread checks and more embedded functionality, says the company.
