Andataco Releases Client/Server Storage Manager

Andataco (San Diego) has released the Client/Server Storage Manager (Client/S), a network-centric storage management tool for GigaRAID/HA storage arrays. The tool allows users to control any GigaRAID/HA unit from any network location, and offers automatic E-mail notification, online graphical indication and instructions for correcting any detected faults in the network. The tool is designed primarily for online transaction processing environments with storage capacity between 40 GB to more than a terabyte, according to marketing manager Amos Deacon. "We can go out on the network and note the status and logical configuration of each and every drive without the need for command line executables," said Rama Katz, system administrator for Motorola's Cellular Infrastructure Group which has been using Client/S since December. "Ultimately," he added, "we could control the RAID remotely and set up a browser to provide summary reports of each device." The Client/Server Storage Manager is available for Sun

(Mountain View, CA) Solaris platforms, with HP/UX support available later in Q1 '98. The suggested list price is $895.
