A boost for business analysts
Global 360 has announced free, pre-built business process models with accompanying simulations using Microsoft Visio and Global 360's analystView plug-in. The templates provide process professionals with a starting point for using Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) to visualize and quantify process improvement recommendations. The company explains each process template was developed using knowledge gained from real-world engagements with Global 360 customers. The first six business process templates available are:
Accounts Payable. The process model and simulation reveal several departmental tasks that can be performed in parallel, accelerating payment completion rates.
Loan Processing. A bank uses process simulation to assess the impact of upcoming marketing programs aimed at first-time auto buyers.
Insurance Claim Processing. An insurance company explores alternatives to improve an existing process and reduce operational costs.
HR Employee On-Boarding (two templates). Template 1--HR department needs to meet 45-day service level agreement to complete the on-boarding of a new employee. Process template shows how the company achieved that goal. Template 2--With 300 to 400 employees joining and departing the company every two months, the HR organization is constantly recruiting, training and relieving staff. Process template shows how the company achieved its service level agreement goals.
Change of Address Request Processing. Bank needs to process 120,000 change of address requests annually. Process template demonstrates their move from paper-based to automated process.
To help business analysts better understand the models, simulation results and improvement reports within the templates, a companion guide is offered to provide a summary of each business situation. The BPMN process models are available to all Microsoft Visio users, while the process simulation scenarios embedded within each model are only available to users with Microsoft Visio Premium 2010 and analystView. Additional business process templates will be made available over the coming months. Global 360 is also encouraging process professionals to share their own process templates for others to learn from and leverage in their own projects.
