Golden records

AngloGold Ashanti Australia has deployed records compliance management software to meet requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. The AXS-One Compliance Platform is expected to help the company improve business processes and reduce the risks and costs of managing and archiving corporate records such as e-mail and SAP data.

AngloGold Ashanti Australia wanted to implement a strategic platform-based solution that could manage all content types, rather than select point solutions. The company sought a single repository with the scale and functionality to archive all corporate records; to manage archived documents via predefined retention criteria; to override retention criteria where required; and to search and retrieve stored data.

"After reviewing our IT systems, we quickly recognized that a platform approach to managing our corporate records was essential in order to accommodate our new policies and procedures associated with Sarbanes-Oxley," says Bill Cowan, CFO of AngloGold Ashanti Australia. "Since e-mail is now our primary method of business communication, we needed a system that would compliantly capture, store and manage all transactional and other e-mail content. The product we selected had to demonstrate an ROI as well as address specific compliance requirements."

AngloGold Ashanti Australia is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, a gold producer with operations on four continents.
