CMS facilitates ticket sales

Ticketmaster, with one of the largest e-commerce Internet sites, is powering its extranet with content management software from Ektron. The extranet serves Ticketmaster users including the company's marketing staff and venue partners like Madison Square Garden.

The company wanted a solution that would enable extranet users to access information readily from a single source, and one that would allow its marketing staff to independently create and post content. It eventually decided that Ektron CMS offered a rich interface while speeding time to market with an easy-to-use Microsoft Word environment.

"Ticketmaster's mission is to provide the best systems, services and tools for the optimal distribution of tickets," says Brian Pike, VP of data analytics and CRM at Ticketmaster. "The new system helps support that objective by facilitating an online gateway for content and information flow to our clients."

As the world's leading ticketing company, Ticketmaster sold 100 million tickets valued at $4.9 billion in 2003 through its Web site, 3,300 retail outlets and 19 worldwide call centers.
