Bertelsmann Stiftung enhances its DAM for SharePoint

The Bertelsmann Stiftung foundation is leveraging digital asset management (DAM) software to increase the DAM-related services available to its SharePoint users. The private, non-profit foundation, based in Germany, chose the Picturepark DAM solution to replace its aging system.

Björn Brockschmidt, IT project coordinator for Bertelsmann Stiftung, says, “Picturepark works well inside SharePoint, and this was most important for us. Because it is so simple for users, we didn’t need to offer any training. It is all self-explanatory.”

The new DAM solution enables the organization to extend DAM functionality to external suppliers and agencies through the product’s Web-based asset ordering and uploading features, according to Picturepark. Also, with the new DAM functionality, editors can quickly batch-edit any number of records at a time, and users can share digital assets across social media and other channels.

“By providing Picturepark access from within SharePoint, these organizations gain digital asset management and search operations that extend beyond the Microsoft Office-centric services for which SharePoint was designed,” says Picturepark CEO Ramon Forster.

The nonprofit work of Bertelsmann Stiftung is funded predominantly by income earned from its shares in international media company Bertelsmann.
