BPM aids compliance

To ease compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations, Gateway Health Plan has implemented a new business process management solution. Section 404 requires companies to document and maintain internal controls and procedures for financial reporting.

Appian Compliance Manager software will help Gateway identify potential issues, track resolutions enterprisewide and report on activity status in real time. Gateway Health Plan also will use Appian Enterprise to automate and manage other corporate processes, according to a recent press release from Appian.

Eric Huss, VP and CFO for Gateway Health Plan, explains, "As a large Medicare and Medicaid managed care organization in Pennsylvania and Ohio, we seek to comply with all applicable SOX regulations, while providing our members, healthcare providers and regulators with the best services available.

"Appian delivers a comprehensive solution that will provide our organization with visibility into our compliance activities and result in opportunities for oversight and administrative controls. It's a tool that we expect to be highly effective in automating and managing compliance activities that are integrated into Gateway's services and day-to-day operations."
