Accusoft, Jack Berlin, Founder, President & CEO:
View From the Top

In the next five years, every company in the world is going to be using HTML5 viewing technology. There’s simply no better way to address security, performance, mobile access and other document delivery challenges reliably and affordably in a way that’s platform-agnostic. Most larger companies today are trying to get a handle on their cloud security, and smaller companies are struggling to address legitimate security concerns with their third-party cloud vendors. In both cases, HTML5 viewing with configurable DRM controls can be integrated atop the cloud to provide that last, critical measure of content security. It enables companies to deliver documents from the cloud to user devices, encrypted in transit, without making the editable source file available to the user. That’s a huge step forward in cloud security, and far safer than putting documents out on commercial clouds. It empowers forward-thinking companies to go beyond simple authorized/unauthorized access control to selectively enabling or disabling printing, content copying, downloading the source file and more by user, group, file or other criteria, and to exert programmatic control over DRM protections via API. At Accusoft, we believe browser-based HTML5 viewing and the productivity tools it can host—such as annotation, redaction and digital signing—offer organizations an added measure of cloud security, and their users an added measure of convenience and productivity. We are committed to continuing to develop and enhance the premier HTML5 viewing technology available to the marketplace, in versions optimized for on-premise, cloud and ECM deployments.
