XyEnterprise acquires XSystems

XML solution pioneer XyEnterprise has acquired XSystems of Herndon, Va., in a private transaction.

XSystems’ services will comprise a new business unit for XyEnterprise that will focus on editorial tools development, standards expertise and consulting services. In addition, all XSystems’ employees have joined XyEnterprise in various capacities. The acquisition follows a 15-year partnership between the two companies.

XSystems’ software maintenance and service operations, as well as the company’s other assets, will be transferred to XyEnterprise, and current clients with active maintenance agreements will continue to be supported without change or interruption.

Former XSystems’ employees will focus on consulting services at XyEnterprise while they continue to work with their existing customers, primarily in the area of editorial tools development and consulting. They will also work to leverage their industry experience with standards, including DITA and S1000D, as well as data modeling.

In addition to XSystems staff, XyEnterprise plans to integrate XSystems’ tools and technology into the Contenta product suite. The XSystems’ technology extends Contenta's focus on authoring and editorial productivity in increasingly complex multichannel content delivery environments—particularly for emerging XML standards such as DITA and S1000D, says XyEnterprise.
