Merging structured with unstructured

Autonomy reports it has acquired NCorp from private shareholders, a move designed to extend Autonomy's Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) to all corporate assets--both structured and unstructured.

NCorp says its “Ijen” technology puts the database into a multidimensional space in order to enable “fuzzy queries"; by putting differing items into a multidimensional space, comparisons can be made by calculating their similarity. The companies say the combination of Autonomy's IDOL Server with NCorp's Ijen technology produces the world's first parametric, probabilistic space analysis, a parametric search capability set that relates n-dimensional structured objects to each other conceptually where no direct field match exists.
