Making connections

Cognos has released its Web services platform, enabling connections Cognos software and multiple applications.

Available for Microsoft and Unix platforms, the offering is said to allow bring Cognos software into a broad range of applications including CRM, ERP, SCM, collaborative computing, specialized vertical applications, a full range of mobile devices and to extend Cognos capabilities into areas such as .NET and J2EE.

Cognos explains that its Web Services allows for content from a Cognos application to be displayed in a custom fashion, within an existing user interface. BI functionality can then be added to existing portals.
