Documentum Adds Windows IE Interface to EDMS Products
In answer to Microsoft's (Redmond, WA) growing acceptance in corporate offices,
Documentum (Pleasanton, CA) has announced a software development effort to add Windows Internet Explorer interface support for its EDMS systems. Users will be able to use IE to browse, navigate, participate in workflow and access documents in the Docbase repository. With the IE enhancement, the training curve for deployment "is reduced to virtually zero," said Matt Shanahan, director of product marketing at Documentum. "True 'enterprise' document management still today requires multiple good answers to the access issue for a very wide range of people working with different pieces of the corporate electronic information asset," according to
The Delphi Group (Boston). Documentum's systems already support Unix environments and software application and messaging platforms such as
SAP (Lester, PA) and
Lotus (Cambridge, MA) Notes. The new features are currently being tested and will be made available to all Documentum customers under current maintenance agreements later this year.
