This fact was echoed by 92% of respondents to this new KMWorld survey—nearly every manager and professional that participated. However, delivering knowledge to the right people at the right time has long been hampered by the time drain of searching through content scattered across disparate locations to find the right information. This all-too-common scenario has a significant real-world impact on business productivity.

Artificial intelligence (AI) offers an opportunity to recharge knowledge-based work. Right now, AI is still in its early phase of investment, but most enterprises are planning implementations to assist in retrieving answers from existing content and data. At the same time, a substantial number of employees are seeking AI support from unsanctioned sources, which presents new risks and challenges.
