NCR, Cognos Endorse Financial Services Deal
Per a new agreement, NCR (Dayton, OH) will integrate Cognos' (Burlington, MA) PowerPlay and Impromptu business intelligent tools into its Teradata relational database. The combined system of data warehousing, OLAP and client/server query and reporting technologies will be targeted at the retail banking marketplace. The system is designed to help companies "get far greater value from their data warehouse and stay one step ahead of their competition," said Dan Harrington, VP of data warehouse marketing for NCR's Computer Systems Group. The expanded licensing and royalty-based agreement will add analytical punch to what are often the largest mission-critical data caches around, added Paul Hill, Cognos VP of strategic alliances and business development.
