Optimizing site performance

Eastern Mountain Sports, a retailer of outdoor adventure and sports gear, has selected Mirror Image Internet to manage its Web traffic. The goal was to improve the overall performance of Eastern Mountain Sports' e-commerce Web site and to better manage traffic spikes that occur during e-mail marketing campaigns.

"We were searching for a solution to improve the speed of downloading pages to the customer and reduce the need to purchase additional bandwidth," explains Rory Steer, IT director at Eastern Mountain Sports. "We ultimately selected Mirror Image so our customers could benefit from faster page loads, while our company could benefit from a more cost-effective method of handling heavy traffic."

During e-mail marketing campaigns, Eastern Mountain Sports can experience a 400 percent increase in Web site traffic compared to that on a typical day. That high volume of customer traffic strained its hardware. With the new solution, the outdoor retailer can conduct marketing campaigns without taxing its infrastructure, according to a recent press release from Mirror Image. Eastern Mountain Sports Web site performance has reportedly improved by 40 percent.
