Industry Watch: EMC introduces new Documentum offering

EMC has introduced Documentum Enterprise Content Integration (ECI) Services, which it describes as software designed to allow users to discover, access and assimilate structured and unstructured information from multiple internal and external sources with a single query.

Documentum reports the system can integrate heterogeneous content from a wide variety of sources, including enterprise applications, databases, content management systems, Web search engines, industry-specific databases, local archives, government portals and syndicated content providers.

ECI is geared toward information-intensive activities such as research and development, competitive intelligence, monitoring of regulatory affairs and intellectual property management. It can be used in conjunction with the Documentum Enterprise Content Management platform, with other content management products or as a standalone tool.
