FAST and Siebel form alliance
Siebel Systems and Fast Search & Transfer have formed a multiyear partnership, whereby FAST InStream will be integrated within the core Siebel business applications platform. The agreement also provides Siebel Systems with the ability to leverage FAST InStream internally. Siebel Systems plans to incorporate FAST search technology into its internal Siebel deployment later this year.
The companies say the integration of FAST InStream with Siebel business applications will add significant new functionality for Siebel customers, allowing them extend their use of Siebel solutions by integrating existing customer and sales information with information from a range of repositories including databases, Web and intranet pages, and third-party internal file systems.
In other FAST news, the company reports it has developed mSearch, another Search Derivative Application (SDA) based upon its Enterprise Search Platform. The company describes mSearch as the industry's first mobile search solution to collectively integrate content such as music, games, ring tones and images with content from the mobile Web
FAST says mSearch enables a rich, streamlined, simple-to-use mobile environment that can be automatically and progressively personalized for each subscriber. It further adds it gives business managers precise, intuitive control over the environment and customer experience, as well as offering new revenue-generating possibilities.
