InterPortPolice launch collaboration platform

InterPortPolice, a global law enforcement agency, has implemented an enterprise social network to improve real-time collaboration.

The organization, which consists of airport and seaport police and public safety jurisdictions, has deployed tibbr from TIBCO Software. InterPortPolice wanted to eliminate information silos while providing a secure platform for information exchange. The organization was drawn to tibbr because of its security and administration features, seamless user interface and the ability to deliver information streams customized to a user’s role within the organization, TIBCO reports.

“We needed a trusted partner with an easy-to-use platform to help us break out of the insecure e-mail bottleneck and offer streamlined text, voice, video and picture collaboration to participants across multiple jurisdictions and countries,” says Secretary General Jay Grant, chief executive of InterPortPolice. “Early in our search, we came across various tools that fell short of meeting the demands of our mobile and collaborative workforce. Tibbr was an obvious fit for us because it goes beyond basic social communication--it is secure, mobile and integrates updates from various law enforcement systems. In our world, that could mean preventing a serious incident or crime.”

The mobile offerings of tibbr, including its geolocation features, were important to InterPortPolice, because its law enforcement officers are away from their desks 90 percent of the time. With tibbr GEO, physical places--like cargo containers, ships and airplanes--become data hubs that stream insights relevant to that specific place, enabling officers to respond appropriately to any given situation. Tibbr GEO can push critical, location-based information to the right person at the right time, according to TIBCO.
