Magnitude Software Acquires Simba Technologies

Magnitude Software, a provider of enterprise information management software, has acquired Simba Technologies Inc., a provider of cross-platform standards-based data access solutions for relational, multi-dimensional, and non-relational data sources.

According to Magnitude, the acquisition will expand its corporate performance management, master data management, and data connectivity capabilities. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

Magnitude Software products provide customers with operational reporting and analytics in the form of pre-packaged solutions for functional business areas, and reliable data through its master data management solutions.

Simba Technologies provides data access between front-end applications and back-end data sources, bridging the gap between innovative and non-conventional data sources to the universal industry standard.  Since the early 1990s, Simba has worked with software vendors, such as Microsoft Corp., to enable universal access to widely deployed data sources through ODBC.

According to the vendors, together, they deliver specialized solutions to address data fragmentation within hybrid application environments (cloud and on premises), including the ability to deliver personalized operational business intelligence in support of financial operations, where data is spread across enterprise ERP and cloud/SaaS solutions. In addition, the acquisition will allow native connectivity to be embedded into Magnitude Software’s offerings to harmonize business-critical master data, such as customer and product, in an enterprise data landscape that is increasingly fragmented.

Simba uses SimbaEngineX to build all of its drivers, and Simba’s ODBC, JDBC, and OLAP connectivity technology is embedded in products from companies including Alteryx, Cloudera, Couchbase, Databricks, DataStax, Google, Hortonworks, MapR, Microsoft, Oracle, Qubole, SAP, Splunk, Tableau, and Teradata.

Simba CEO Amyn Rajan will be general manager of Connectivity Solutions at Magnitude, and George Chow and Jerry Wu, key executives with Simba for more for 10 years, will continue to provide leadership and expertise in engineering, including current Simba development efforts.
