Datawatch Unveils Monarch for IBM Watson Analytics and IBM Cognos Analytics

Datawatch Corporation has announced the availability of Datawatch Monarch for IBM Watson Analytics and IBM Cognos Analytics. Earlier this year, Datawatch revealed that IBM would resell Datawatch Monarch to deliver better and faster data access and self-service data preparation (prep) to its users. Now, the company says, those users can leverage Monarch to prep and analyze more data faster, and take advantage of IBM`s cognitive computing capabilities across a wide variety of data sources.

Offering the benefits of advanced analytics without the complexity, Watson Analytics is a data discovery service available on the cloud that helps guide exploration, automates predictive analytics, and enables dashboard and infographic creation.

Cognos Analytics provides self-service capabilities that enable business users to create and/or personalize dashboards and reports on their own - and is available on-premise or on the cloud.

According to Datawatch, data that provides the most analytical value is often locked away in inaccessible multi-structured and unstructured documents, such as text reports, web pages, PDFs, JSON and log files. In addition, in many instances, an organization`s source data is diverse and rarely presents itself in an analysis-ready format – resulting in the need for large amounts of time to be spent on manual data retrieval and prep processes.

The Datawatch Monarch self-service data prep solution is targeted at helping data analysts and everyday business users to more rapidly access, manipulate, and blend data from diverse sources. Data can then be prepared for analysis in Watson Analytics and Cognos Analytics more quickly.

This solution is directed at the fact that the majority of strategic business decisions are based on incomplete or outdated information because of the time it takes for data retrieval and manual prep processes, according to Michael Morrison, president and CEO of Datawatch. Monarch, he said, enables Watson Analytics and Cognos Analytics users to obtain all of the information required to obtain a holistic view of the business, and then prepare it for analysis so that, instead of prepping, they can devote their time to performing analysis that accelerates decision making and adds business value.
