Visioneer Finally in the Black

For the first time in almost two years, Visioneer (Fremont, CA, Nasdaq: VSNR) has reported a profitable quarter. Q4 '97 revenue of $19.7 million is up 13% from Q3 '97, and up 23% from Q4 '96. A net income of $123,000 compares with a net loss of $676,000 in Q3 '97 and a net loss of $11.1 million in Q4 '96. For the year, Visioneer reports revenue of $57.6 million and a net loss of $23.4 million, compared to 1996 figures of $56.1 million and $24.4 million, respectively. The increase in revenue is attributable to demand for Visioneer's PaperPort 3000 and 6000 flatbed scanners. With the net income reported in Q4 '97, Visioneer has fulfilled its prediction of returning to profitability by the end of 1997.
