Verity Sues Lotus

Verity (Sunnyvale, CA) has filed a lawsuit against Lotus (Cambridge, MA) alleging breach of contract. The lawsuit, alleging copyright infringement, unfair competition, breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets, and unjust enrichment and conversion has been filed in the U.S. District Court in Delaware. Verity has accused Lotus of violating a 1992 licensing agreement by using Verity's search and retrieval technology outside the scope of the agreed-upon licensing rights. Verity is seeking injunctive relief and damages, among other remedies. The features in question include technology for viewing and retrieving documents, and various filters used in the search and indexing processes.
