Verity, IBM join for IP database management

IBM is search-enabling its intellectual property database and reselling the technology to the channel per a new agreement with Verity.

Including Verity's K2 search toolkit in IBM's Intellectual Property server for the DB2 database lets users access and retrieve textual patent information from multiple country patent collections. IBM will also incorporate the K2 toolkit within its own Web-based IP system.

The combined offering is designed to power mission-critical business decision support systems.
