Stellent extends reach

Stellent has released Content Management 6.0, which includes three new major components--Collaboration Server, Connection Server and Extrasite Server.

Stellent says Collaboration Server leverages an organization's existing content management infrastructure for Web-based content collaboration capabilities, adding that it facilitates collaborative content creation and management by enabling individual users to define and maintain projects teams via a Web browser without requiring assistance from an IT department.

The Connection Server is said to provide content integration and distribution capabilities that enable Stellent's enterprise customers to aggregate content from multiple repositories, manage it in the Stellent environment and distribute it to any audience. Using this module, says the company, customers are also able to move content to other sites or individuals, both internal and external. This functionality allows users to push content to these audiences on a subscription or administrative basis.

Stellent explains that Extrasite Server is designed for high-volume consumption environments and resides entirely in a J2EE application server, enabling it to leverage the application server's enterprise scalability as well as its numerous other benefits such as clustering, multi-threading, fail-over and load-balancing. Extrasite Server allows organizations to scale their Web sites for assembly and delivery of personalized content to a variety of business applications throughout an enterprise.
