Simplifed SharePoint migration from MetaVis

MetaVis Technologies has introduced File Manager for SharePoint, which is described as a bi-directional migration tool that allows users to move content, folder structures and metadata between file systems and any SharePoint environment, including Office 365. For SharePoint users, MetaVis offers a free trial of the new product.

MetaVis claims File Manager allows users to easily control how file share content is moved into SharePoint or how content is downloaded or “off boarded” from SharePoint to a file share--no matter how complex the environment. File Manager is an agentless solution and maintains all metadata without the need to install any server-side components. It provides full support for Managed Metadata, and allows content to be tagged with managed metadata values during loading or downloading for improved user search and usability, says the company. MetaVis further explains File Manager enables:

• moving content from SharePoint to file systems,
• reducing the size of a SharePoint environment,
• archiving older content or completed project documentation, and
• migrating content from file systems to SharePoint.
