Silicon Graphics Appoints CEO
Silicon Graphics (Mountain View, CA) has named Richard Belluzzo as its new chairman and CEO. He replaces Ed McCracken, resigned in November 1997; McCracken will stay on as a consultant to SGI through the end of June. Belluzzo previously served as executive VP and GM of Hewlett-Packard (Greeley, CO) Computer Organization, with responsibility for HP's computer products, computer systems and its software and services group. Belluzzo was at HP for 22 years. His management experience and knowledge of technology make him "an outstanding choice" for the position, according to SGI board member James McDivitt.
