Semio upgrades Taxonomy

With a new user interface, relevance ranking, Documentum access and multiple language support, Semio has added significant new features to its popular Taxonomy software. Version 4.0 allows customized, browseable category structures (taxonomies), facilitating the ease of locating information users require. The product now automatically displays the document list on the same page as the categories. As the user selects and changes categories, the list automatically refreshes.

Using relevance ranking, the most appropriate documents for the selected category are at the top of the list. If there are many documents in the selected category, Semio Taxonomy displays the most relevant and prompts to display additional results.

In addition to Lotus Notes, Semio Taxonomy can access information managed by the Documentum content management platform as source documents. That integration lets Documentum customers build browseable structures of the content stored in their document repository, giving users new levels of access to corporate information.

The Semio software extracts key concepts from text-based information as part of the process of building and maintaining customized, browseable categories. With this release, the software can extract key concepts in English, French, Spanish and/or Italian source documents; additional language support will be added in future releases.
