SGI implements KM in its manufacturing extranet

Silicon Graphics is cutting cycle times through better information-sharing with a key international supplier.

SGI and its partner previously shared documents using an E-mail based system, which became increasingly slow and cumbersome. Using Open Text's LiveLink to view documents and conduct workgroup discussions, SGI now expects to complete drafts more quickly, speeding the decision-making process and reducing manufacturing cycle times.

"One of the key elements of a successful supplier relationship is the ability to fully leverage the combined capabilities of the two companies," said Peter Williamson, SGI manager of supply chain strategy. "We expect Livelink to be an enabling technology for us in that respect.
