SAFE KIDS program streamlines data entry processes

The National SAFE KIDS campaign is speeding its data entry processes to achieve a worthy cause: promote car seat safety, and ultimately save children's lives.

SAFE KIDS promotes correct car seat and safety belt usage through nationwide Buckle-Up events, where parents learn if their car seats meet current standards and are being used properly.

At these events, SAFE KIDS inspectors record information about the car, the car seat and its usage. The forms are faxed to a centralized SAFE KIDS location and processed by Cardiff's Teleform data collection software. The information is then exported to a database for statistical analysis.

As a result, the data entry process is streamlined and quickened, while information accuracy is increased. And armed with information about safer car seat usage, parents and children can help reduce the number of children injured (280,000) and killed (1,400) each year as passenges in motor vehicle accidents
