Product parade at Knowledge Management Expo

The Knowledge Management Expo show floor at the McCormick Center in Chicago will offer a wealth of technology solutions as vendors provide real answers to information-sharing problems. Geared toward the upper management decision makers the show attracts, examples of successful installations and available solutions will be the rule. Among the solutions being showcased are the following:

BancTec (Dallas, TX,

http://www.banctec.com) will offer automated applications for the banking, financial services, insurance, healthcare, government, utility, telecommunications and retail markets. The systems integration and services company features account, check, forms and remittance processing systems.

Cornerstone Imaging (San Jose, CA, http://www.corimage.com) will showcase Version 1.2 of InputAccel, its document capture application. Monitor and graphics controller technologies will be featured as well.

Epson America (Torrance, CA, http://www.epson.com) will show its image capture and output devices. Products include the Stylus Color line of ink jet printers, the Expression 636 color flatbed scanner and PhotoPC and PhotoPC 500 digital cameras.

Feith Systems & Software (Fort Washington, PA, http://www.feith.com) will demonstrate its 32-bit software, Feith Document Database (FDD) Version 5.0. The solution for imaging, COLD, document management and workflow processes has enhanced features such as redesigned display windows, user defined sorting and multilevel folders.

First Data CD-ROM Services (Omaha, NE, http://www.firstdatacdrom.com) will highlight its archival solutions. As a producer of original CD-ROMs, First Data offers various formats including Statement CD-ROM , Report CD-ROM, Summary CD-ROM, Virtual CD-ROM and others.

Gtess (Dallas, TX, http://www.gtess.com) will display the Automated Data Entry System, which supports scanning, image capture and recognition. It features Knowledge Recognition technology that automatically duplicates the complex associative reasoning process of data entry operators by verifying, correcting and replacing the data on any form.

Hyland Software Rocky River, OH, http://www.onbase.com) will display its OnBase architecture, COLD, document imaging, workflow, CD-ROM publishing, Internet and client systems. A demonstration of CD transfer and retrieval using OnBase and Pioneer (Long Beach, CA, http://www.pioneerusa.com) systems will be featured.

Image Conversion Systems (Arlington Heights, IL, http://www.imageconversion.com) will highlight image capture and conversion services and systems. Capture services offered include scanning and filming, conversion between multiple storage media, facilities management, indexing and image-based data entry.

InfoSolutions (Edgewood, KY, http://www.infosolutions.com) will showcase Version 1.0 of VectorMax, a vector image viewer for AutoCAD images in DWG and DXF formats, plus tools for markup. The tool will be of interest to members of the manufacturing, engineering and utilities markets.

Integrated Information Services (IIS, Carmel, IN, http://www.iss-intellect.com) will feature IIS Intellect 95, an electronic image management software for the integration of database, text and image retrieval functions.

ISC/Cypress (Rochester Hills, MI, http://www.cypressdelivers.com) will display its client-server application that merges legacy and Unix output with LAN/WAN document systems. Offering centralized control of multiplatform output and printers, Cypress is a Windows application, complemented by DocuVault, a document repository.

Lockheed Martin's Information Systems & Technologies division (King of Prussia, PA, http://www.lmco.com/ist) will demonstrate its systems integration and project management capabilities. Components include multimedia object management solutions for Lotus Notes and enterprisewide imaging and workflow systems.

Maxoptix (Fremont, CA, http://www.maxoptix.com) will display the T5-2600 optical disc drive. The 5.25-in. LIMDOW drive has read/write capabilities and a data transfer rate of up to 6 MB/second. The drive is suited for mainstream business and network applications such as data streaming and backup/recovery. Also being shown will be the PX network-ready storage server.

MediaForm (Exton, PA, http://www.mediaform.com) will debut the CD2CD/Pro Series of CD-R and diskette duplication equipment. The standalone duplicator copies six CD-Rs simultaneously, with upgrades available to support 24 drives.

NCS Recognition Products Group (Lincoln, RI, http://www.ncs.com) will demonstrate NestorReader 4.0, development tools for forms processing solutions. Hand print, characters and checkmarks are recognized using the application.

Network Imaging (Herndon, VA, http://www.netimage.com) will feature the 1View suite of tools. Knowledge sharing is promoted using workflow, EDM and COLD products.

Nokia (Sausalito, CA, http://www.nokia.com) will debut the Multigraph 445Xpro 21-in. monitor. With a 20-in. viewing area, the 121-Khz monitor offers 1,800 x 1,440 resolution at 80-Mz refresh. The Multigraph 445xpro features front-panel controls, dual-input and anti-glare coating.

ReadSoft (Chicago, IL, http://www.readsoft.se) will feature Version 4.0 of Eyes & Hands, an automatic data capture solution. The forms processing software offers ICR, OCR, OMR and barcode technologies.

Samson InfoTech (Rego Park, NY, http://www.samsoninfotech.com) will display Sampson Capture, a suite of scanning applications, Capture & Index. The products enable the exchange and processing of faxs, electronic documents and folders.

Silanis Technology (Dorval, Quebec, http://www.silanis.com) will showcase upgrades to its intelligent signature technology. The ApproveIT Toolkit provides the ability to integrate electronic signature product line into any imaging, document management, workflow or Internet/intranet environment. ApproveIT for Office Version 3.5 provides support for Microsoft Office '97.

Southern Computer Systems (Birmingham, AL, http://www.scsinc.com) will demonstrate Vista, a forms processing tool for Windows NT and 95 environments. Data capture and image application development tools are offered in the Vista suite, which builds on ActiveX technology. Another offering is ImageKey, a software platform that supports multiple high-speed scanners and image workstations.

SunRise Imaging (Fremont, CA, http://www.sunriseimg.com) will feature scanning solutions for information capture. SelectScan AP 1000, an aperture card scanner, processes 600 cards/hour. The most recent release of the ProScan family of microfilm scanners with multiformat film modules, the ProScan III, is equipped with an 8800-pixel camera. Software for use with the scanners, ScanFlo Version 2.1 and 2.2, will be displayed as well.

TextWare (Park City, UT, http://www.textware.com) will debut as FormWare, a new forms processing company resulting from a merger with Symbus (Waltham, MA, http://www.symbus.com). Technologies address text retrieval and automated data capture processes. InScript, a Symbus product, is ICR software used for image preprocessing and forms identification capabilities.

TMSSequoia (Stillwater, OK, http://www.tmsinc.com) will debut ScanFix Java, an image enhancement tool for Unix and Windows applications, and ScanFix for OmniPage. Manipulations and form reconstructions are aided by FormFix 2.5, which has new forms ID technology. An Internet and corporate intranet imaging solution, ViewDirector Prizm Plug-in, offers display, manipulation and printing of compressed images.
