Pivotal and webPLAN link

Pivotal has adopted webPLAN’s solution-set within its demand chain network software. The product integration simplifies the selling and fulfillment process by giving customers an intuitive, personalized e-commerce front end for configuring and placing orders, fully integrated with manufacturing systems and the supply chain back end, in real time, over the Internet.

Pivotal describes how it works: Business-to-business (B2B) customers of a manufacturing company with the webPLAN CeO/Pivotal demand chain offering log on to the manufacturer's Web site using a standard browser. Pivotal then leads them through the entire buying experience--complete with needs analysis, recommendations and advice--resulting in a customized order.

The demand order would be integrated with manufacturing data, and the customer instantly receives a “capable-to-promise” date. If shortages of parts or components are delaying the delivery, suppliers of those elements are instantly alerted to demand for their supplies. They, too, can access the manufacturing data, using only a browser, to optimize production and delivery schedules based on the customer demand.
