PCDocs/Fulcrum touts next-gen tools

PCDocs/Fulcrum yesterday unveiled its Enterprise Table of Contents (ETOC) content analysis tool, the latest feature of PCDOCS/Fulcrum's enterprise knowledge management system. ETOC technology allows users to browse a hierarchy of all information available in an enterprise by employing neural network-based content analysis technology to automatically classify information from a variety of different sources and repositories.

"ETOC is a very exciting technology in that it categorizes information that is already retained, as well as reveals information previously hidden in various repositories," commented Amie White, Senior Analyst, Document Image and Workflow Management, International Data Corporation (IDC).

PC DOCS/Fulcrum also announced the commercial release of KNOWLEDGE Base32, its new "precedent management" business application. An extension to DOCS Open, KNOWLEDGE Base32 (KB32) gives attorneys the ability to create and manage a library of their most valuable intellectual assets -- documents -- that hold historical knowledge, legal know-how, or judgements which haveset precedents.

"Generally, only five percent of documents within a law firm actually setprecedents. KB32 is unique to the legal vertical because it focuses onweeding out the valuable knowledge from the superfluous, and provides acomprehensive set of functions specifically designed to manage precedentmaterial throughout its document lifecycle," said Steve Maislin, productand solutions director for PC DOCS/Fulcrum's Legal Business Unit.
