PC Docs forms Manufacturing Solutions Group
PC Docs (Burlington, MA, http://www.pcdocs.com
) is offering a vertical market solution with the formation of the
Manufacturing Solutions Group. A new applications architecture has been created with configured core products and sample code to market-specific business problems of manufacturing companies. The integration of other document management applications to build a solution is no longer necessary, according to Dana Harris, director of industry solutions at PC Docs. "PC Docs' solution frameworks will provide customers with proven starting points," Harris said.
Ted Davidson, new technology development specialist at Union Switch & Signal (Pittsburgh), said that because the "staff can access engineering specifications directly from a PC on the shop floor, we have saved hundreds of hours a year in time spent looking for and retrieving paper documents. We also expect to significantly reduce shipping costs."
Currently benefiting from the program are companies in the process manufacturing segments--petrochemical, food processing, pulp and paper, textiles and semiconductor--and the discrete industry segments such as automotive and electronics.
