Netherland cops buy into BI

So its police officers can make better, faster decisions -- the importance of which should be obvious -- The Hague, Netherlands is turning to business intelligence technology.

The Hague police region will use Brio as the front end to its vast collection of data contained in SAP R/3 and other systems.

With daily reports of criminal data, police will be able to drill down through daily reports to the criminal information relevant to their own district, such as the number of thefts, burglaries or robberies. Policing agency office workers will be able to accurately analyze criminal data and make reports on increasing or decreasing criminality, geographical or organizational shifts or the effects of police actions.

When the system is fully implemented, more than 3,000 police officers will have access via the Web to operational data that is relevant for their particular Hague district.

The system will give Hague police "quick insight into up-to-the minute data to make faster and better informed decisions," said Klaas Groen, office manager of the Hague police region.
