Nestle leverages IT for resource management

Nestle USA, affiliate of the world's largest food company, is replacing legacy paper-based systems in its procurement operations while leveraging its investment in an enterprise resource system.

Nestle USA wants to manage the procurement of all non-production goods and services, including equipment, maintenance, repair and operating supplies, according to Nestle CIO Jeri Bender.

Nestle will use Ariba's Web-based Operating Resource Management System (ORMS), which will handle procurement for Nestle USA's capital equipment, internal and external services, and maintenance, repair and operating supplies. Ariba's ORMS will be tied to Nestle's SAP R/3 ERP system to leverage the company's existing IT investment.

Perceived benefits include higher service levels, increased operational efficiencies and streamlined business processes
