More muscle for Digital Mailroom

Autonomy will embed its pattern recognition technology within Captiva Software’s Digital Mailroom, providing advanced classification and routing for digitized images of inbound mail and electronic communications.

Autonomy’s technology takes a piece of text, identifies it and ranks the concepts within it, learning the meaning of new words or acronyms as new information enters the system over time. In so doing, Autonomy automates the categorization of information based on subject matter, Autonomy says, thereby providing a highly scalable solution for large volumes of information that needs to be quickly categorized and processed.

Captiva explains Digital Mailroom is an automated classification and routing system for digitized images of inbound mail and electronic communications. It offers a single point of entry for a company's incoming mail, faxes, e-mail and electronic communications streams, Captiva says. The system automatically recognizes and routes digitized images of documents and data to the appropriate department or person for further processing while concurrently providing full auditing and tracking capabilities.
