Manufacturer knowledge-enables global sales force

Schneider Automation (North Andover, MA), a manufacturer of programmable logic controllers, is taking steps to empower its 10,000 sales representatives with information from its Lotus Domino databases.

Schneider is building a global information system that puts its sales force directly in touch with information.

When the Transaction Information Systems electronic business solution is complete, the Web-enabled global network will offer instant, multilingual access to product, marketing, business development and customer information from 25 databases.

Now Schneider's salespeople will be able to both access and contribute to the company's knowledgebase, turning their experiences into permanent assets, according to TIS Director of Development Mark Elder.

"The network we are building for Schneider integrates their entire enterprise so that success is easy to sustain," he added.

John McElfresh, Schneider's electronic business director, says that the system lets every marketing, sales and tech support person contribute directly to the company's knowledgebase, without the need for Webmasters to act as information gatekeepers.
