Knowledge--ask for it and get it

Askfor has released Knowledge Builder 1.0, a new module for the company’s Datapan technology that provides access to corporate information as it relates to specific application data and user questions.

Datapan is a data management toolset available for Linux and Microsoft 2000 environments that allows the automated collection and distribution of specific information from various sources, including: public Internet resources, existing or legacy databases, intranets, PDF files, XML and ASCII files. Datapan reports its "apples-to-apples" data normalization uses a XML feed as the lowest common denominator. This feed can then be transformed into customized ASCII, XML, HTML, PDA-HTML, WML, PDF or Excel formats.

Datapan can be integrated into the Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server as well as into other popular corporate portals. “The SharePoint portal can allow us to be up and running in a day or two; otherwise, configuration within another EIP or custom portal would be on the order of a few days to a business week,” says Don Batsford, Askfor’s VP of marketing and business development.

The enterprise license of Datapan costs approximately $10,000.
