KTI jumps into knowledge management

Bolstered by venture capital from London based Electra Fleming, the management team for Concentra's ICAD software system division has bought out their company's ICAD division, and launched a new company named Knowledge Technologies International (KTI). The existing ICAD tool is designed to help discrete manufacturers use existing knowledge to speed the design process. "Designs that took months before, now take minutes," said Garreth Evans, CEO of KTI. "The way that organizations store and deploy their knowledge is changing rapidly, and ICAD, quite simply, enables the transition from an information-led society to a knowledge-led one." Evans cited a need for capital to realize the capability of the product. "We wanted to ensure that the product set was supported in a way that allows it to live up to its potential - and we will be investing in its development accordingly," he said. KTI plans two product announcements this year to expand the capabilities of ICAD beyond the design process and into other sectors of a knowledge-based manufacturing organization. Concentra will continue its focus on sales-force automation software.
