Here’s the beef

Factiva announces significant enhancements to Factiva.com, its Web-based service that provides organizations with tools for researching and monitoring global news and business information.

The company says this upgraded version of the offering allows subscribers to research company information worldwide from two sources, Dun & Bradstreet and Investext. The News Page feature now allows users to browse a specific selection of newspapers and magazines, eliminating the need to search multiple Web sites. Further, says Factiva, a new search screen allows point-and-click access to indexing terms. Interfaces for Spanish and Italian have also been added.

Factiva says it has greatly expanded its company information component with integrated access to a broad range of D&B reports, encompassing more than 36.5 million companies around the world. “Company Snapshots” from D&B include such information as corporate contact information, line of business, D-U-N-S Number as well as links to D&B premium reports. Flat-fee Factiva.com customers can access Company Snapshots as part of their subscription fee, offering a unique business advantage. Company research via Investext, featuring the two most recent reports of approximately 30,000 companies and 55 industries, has been added to Factiva.com as well.

The addition of a Newsstand component of the Factiva.com News Page allows a subscriber to scan the front pages of the world's top newspapers and magazines, as well as browse through the text of entire publications, drilling down, section-by-section to the particular daily news of most interest to a given user. More than 80 sources from 17 countries are available.

The company explains that the new search screen was designed to assist users in obtaining more targeted results, giving subscribers with Factiva Intelligent Indexing functionality within the context of their searches. The standard search screen coexists with the original search screen, permitting subscribers to choose their search screen preference.
