Heightened awareness

Inxight has announced the latest version of its federated search and alert solution. SmartDiscovery Awareness Server 5.2 is designed to derive insight and intelligence from hundreds of high-value information sources through a single interface.

The company reports Version 5.2 is preconfigured out of the box to search and track relevant data from more than 600 online and enterprise sources, including multiple search engines, Web sources such as patent databases and SEC filings, public Web sources such as CNET and MSN Search, subscription-only sources such as LexisNexis and Dialog and enterprise systems such as Lotus Domino and Documentum. Enterprises can also create customized, automated e-mail alerts and brokers to new information sources through a point-and-click interface.

Further, says Inxight, the system deploys existing single sign-on and authentication schemes to provide secure access to subscription and other password-protected data sources. Open APIs, including XML, SOAP and Web services, allow for easy integration with existing or new enterprise applications, says Inxight.

The company explains that the alert module in SmartDiscovery Awareness Server includes the ability to set up e-mail and landing page alerts based on changes to a specific document or Web page or the appearance of newly available information of interest in deep Web, Internet, news, internal systems or other sources. Results can be shared with others via e-mail, or formatted for printing and reading offline.
