Hawaiian healthcare organization to double productivity with data entry system

Hawaii Medical Services Administration (HMSA), the largest healthcare coverage provider in the state, expects to double its production and realize full ROI in a year with its new data entry system.

HMSA will use Scan Optics' ImageEMC++ medical claim processing system to capture and store data from medical claims forms and attachments into a mainframe processing system and an optical image archive.

The new system will increase HMSA's processing load from 20,000 to 45,000 claims per week, and will provide an infrastructure for future applications. By phasing out its old microfilming system and improving productivity, HMSA expects the system to pay for itself in less than twelve months
