Function for forms

Capture vendor Kofax has entered the forms processing market with Xtrata, which uses adaptive registration to ensure low maintenance and consistent, automatic results for existing forms. The result is that forms processing is now practical for organizations that might not have considered it, claims Kofax.

Xtrata technology will be available first in Ascent Xtrata, a plug-in for the Ascent information capture platform from Kofax. The company explains Xtrata's registration technology automatically adapts to changes in scanned forms, significantly improving character recognition, form classification and information extraction. Further, says Kofax, that capability also makes distributed scanning more effective by automatically adjusting for scans from different hardware or forms from different printers. In addition, Xtrata's automatic form classification eliminates the need to manually sort forms before scanning, further reducing the cost of operation, the company says.
