Fulcrum and Reuters Target Asian Intranet Expansion

Fulcrum (Ottawa, Ontario) and Reuters (London), the global media and news organization, have signed an agreement to co-market their products in the Asia Pacific region. The deal includes promotion of Reuters' Business Information Products and Fulcrum's Knowledge Network application. Reuters BIP applications allow users to retrieve historical or current news and information through an intranet or the Internet. The deal addresses the budding Asian intranet market, which will see its user base grow 50% by the year 2000, according to a 1997 IDC (Framingham, MA) report. "Enterprises are looking to corporate intranets as an integral component of their knowledge management initiatives," said Fulcrum president and CEO Mike Laginsky. Added Mark Trasenster, managing director of Reuters BIP in Asia: "The need for structured data solutions in information retrieval is colossal, and we are committed to making this regional collaboration a success."
