Epicentric and Semio link up for content

Epicentric will employ Semio Taxonomy in its Portal Server Integration Framework. The Epicentric framework is a set of software and services that enables the rapid deployment of portals in multi-vendor environments. Implementing the Semio technology into Epicentric’s product will allow users to quickly find what they need from large amounts of unstructured data, including documents, Web content, XML sources and databases. The union enables portal users to browse through customized categories of information.

Epicentric offers a variety of pre-negotiated syndicated content, industry-specific modules, services and applications that create a precisely customized environment for users. Semio's software makes this targeted information on business portals more accessible by providing customized, browseable categories from dynamic and diverse data sources, including news feeds, Internet sites, documents and databases.

Says Kathleen Hayes, VP of business development at Epicentric, "The Semio/Epicentric solution gives users better access to the valuable information available from the portal, making it a more powerful tool for business. With tailored, browseable categories, the Semio technology enhances the value of the portal and supports our goal of offering customized solutions that meet the specific business needs of portal users."
