Electronic Industries Alliance Knowledge Center takes on Y2K

TheElectronic Industries Alliance (EIA), in collaboration with Computer Science Corporation, is deploying to 2,100 EIA members a Y2K Knowledge Center based on Intraspect's Collaborative Enterprise Portal for knowledge discovery, organization and collaboration.

By compiling Y2K-relevant electronic information -- reports, spreadsheets, text documents, Web pages, and e-mail -- the EIA-Y2K KnowledgeCenter enables people at both small and large companies to use their existing Web browsers and e-mail software to discover how their colleagues have tested, solved, and planned for Y2K problems.

EIA president Dave McCurdy said, "We are committed to seeking reliable Y2K solutions that will reduce costs and risks associated with the Y2K problem. The EIA-Y2K Knowledge Center incorporates state-of-the-art knowledge management software from Intraspect that allows users to contribute, collaborate, search, and subscribe to a comprehensive knowledge base of Y2K information."

Jim Pflaging, president and CEO of Intraspect, said "The accountability associated with Y2K remediation means companies need a single, reliable place to go to gather, share, and re-use critical Y2K experiences and information. Y2K issues are not going away, and EIA is making it possible for companies to enter the year 2000 worry-free."
