Easy learning

With the latest version of Lotus LearningSpace, IBM MindSpan Solutions reports it delivers an e-learning technology platform that offers self-paced, collaborative capabilities, robust tracking and management and integration of course content, all in one environment.

On the collaboration side, 5.0 allows for the recording and playback of live sessions as well as break-out sessions during live virtual classes further enhancing the effectiveness of e-learning. Students can also share documents and use e-mail launched within LearningSpace to contact classmates and instructors. Administrators can set up automatic e-mail notifications for such events as enrollment or server maintenance. The company also says that with added support for Windows 2000, Lotus LearningSpace 5.0 enables organizations to reach wider audiences by providing improved scalability and dependability over previous versions.

Users can incorporate new and existing course material from content vendors such as Smartforce, Skillsoft and NETg. IBM Mindspan also offers custom content development.

Lotus LearningSpace 5.0 is available in two versions. The Core Module provides the infrastructure for learning initiatives and supports delivery, tracking and management of online, self-paced learning. The Collaboration Module extends that module to provide the collaboration components.
