80-20 Software has released the latest version of its e-mail search product, 80-20 Retriever. The new version is designed to equip single users with a fast, accurate tool for searching e-mail and personal files.

Features of Retriever 3.0 SP1 include:

• document preview pane that allows fast, easy scanning of e-mails, attachments and personal documents;

• search term highlighting, which brings users directly to the first "hit" of a search term;

• navigation keys that allow fast scanning of all search terms in documents, quickly identifying relevant text;

• A tool tip that instantly displays the outcome of the most recent index update or rebuild; and

• support for Windows XP and Office 2002.

80-20 Retriever is the desktop component of the 80-20 One Search suite. Through a combination of 80-20 Retriever, Discovery and Meta Search, the One Search suite is said to allow users to find information in an organization, regardless of where it is located. The system provides companies with an easy-to-use search engine that covers the desktop, the enterprise and legacy systems. Combined with technology that automatically and dynamically categorizes information, One Search reduces the cost and time associated with search, 80-20 says.
