Docent Does Enterprise Training Software

A software solution designed for the enterprise training automation market has been released by Docent (Palo Alto, CA). Docent Version 2.0 is a software application for deploying and measuring training across an enterprise using the Internet. The software is composed of four modules: a reporter module for central management and results mapping, outliner and publisher modules to create and deploy training, and a server module for accessing the training information. New to this version are reporting capabilities for mapping results against other performance measurements, integration with information with other applications, and an Internet/intranet delivery mechanism. The system fits right in with the current push for establishing knowledge management initiatives, according to Chris Shipley, editor and publisher of Demo 98 where Docent Version 2.0 debuts this week. "Having the right knowledge at the right time is half the battle for competing effectively in today's global market," he said. "Docent addresses this challenge head on." Pricing for Docent Version 2.0 ranges from $35,000 to $50,000 for a pilot program and $150,000-$250,000 for enterprise deployment.
