Cygnet names Syquest VP as new leader

As his former company prepares to close its doors, ex-Syquest VP Lennart Hjord has landed at another storage vendor, as president and CEO of Cygnet Storage Solutions . Hjord, formerly responsible for managing Syquest's worldwide operations, manufacturing, planning, quality and customer support functions, joins Cygnet as it prepares for another round of venture capital funding this fall. Cygnet chair Wanda Dorosz points to Hjord's deep technology experience as an invaluable asset to his new company (he has also held executive positions at Quantum and Oracle in the U.S., and IBM and Digital Equipment in Europe). "His impressive experience in all aspects of our industry will have a positive impact on our growth and profitability plans," added Cygnet COO John Barratt.
